How to become a commercial diver in Canada
- Get a recreational open water certification. CDI and DiveSafe require it (both offer a prerequisite week) (CDI, DiveSafe). Atlantic CDC and ETSM ask for 20 logged dives or 20 hours (ACDC, ETSM).
- Pass a commercial diving medical with a hyperbaric physician, as every school listed requires.
- Choose a DCBC-accredited program. Unrestricted surface supplied (50 m) is the widest ticket; occupational SCUBA (30 m) is shorter and cheaper. See the comparison.
- Graduate and get DCBC certification. DCBC lists accredited schools here.
- Find work. Expect contract work and travel. See jobs and wages.
